To Aid You In Your Search For Feeling Good

This tip was meant to leave my inbox on Friday and, in the next moment, Roe v Wade was reversed. 

I decided not to send and give us all a few days to breathe. Now, in this very different reality, searching for ways to help you feel good seems quite necessary. 

Here are a few things, very lighthearted, to distract you and soothe you. 

Developed as a public art project by a rural elementary school in California, PEPTOC is a kindergarten fueled pre-recorded phone hotline designed to change the direction of your day.

Another burst of joy available to you is “MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON”. In theaters, Marcel is the brainchild of Jenny Slate and her ex-husband Dean Fleischer-Camp. 

Shot as a documentary and birthed from a 10-minute You Tube video 10 years ago, the filmmaker follows Marcel in his quest to find his family, his community. Did you know it takes twenty shells? It does. 

Isabella Rossellini plays Marcel’s sweet grandmother shell (yes, with shoes on) and you just want to melt into her love for Marcel and all things garden. Her voice makes this movie and she captures the steady gentleness we all need now. 

“Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” is touching and kind and reminds us all how tiny can be very impactful.

If you need a completely different kind of distraction, Velveeta, the highly meltable cheese-like food product may have just figured out what it was always supposed to be. A cheesy-scented nail polish! Yes, for no real specific reason, Velveeta created two nail polish colors. one a bold red and the other a dead-on Velveeta yellow-orange which is CHEESE SCENTED when dry. Why? I don’t know, but why not?

Since nothing is really making sense these days, why not cheese scented nail polish? 

To properly execute this pairing, globs of the yellow-orange placed on the red is recommended.
