What Is Your First Step This Season?

Hi Wonderful Friend!

Each season, I start shopping for myself in the same way.

I look for inspiration in scents.

It’s how I get excited for something new, a fresh chill in the air or a warm, balmy breeze.

You most likely have a starting place too, most of my clients do.

Is it a new pair of sneakers? A deep and dramatic lip color? Special outerwear? Or, maybe just a new body cream. Sesame oil is an especially lovely one for Fall.

On topic, but off topic, my simple and stoic 1926 apartment building has seen a huge influx of the most wonderful 20-something-year-olds since the pandemic started. Rents dropped and we were lucky enough to get a wave of positive energy through our doors.

One particularly new chic resident was in the elevator when I stepped in and I was immediately wrapped in warmth and wood and a very subtle hint of musk and sweet spice. It was intoxicating and, as it surrounded me, I realized it was exactly the scent I was wanting this Fall and Winter. Something wild, embracing and sophisticated all at once.

We chatted and I told her how much I loved her scent and how I loved the complexity and….what is it?! Turns out it’s something her friend sells out of Dubai. That’s all I got. No name, no direction.

As the doors were closing, she asked my apartment number and was gone.

Twenty minutes later, a small handblown bottle was hanging on my door knob. I applied a few heavenly drops, folded the rest of my laundry, packed and fell into a deep sleep. What an incredible gift. What a beautiful gesture.

I wish you the same magic for your start to the season. I hope you find your inspiration this week.

If it happens to be a scent, you have a lot to choose from.

Rhianna’s Fenty Beauty has finally launched her first scent, Fenty Eau De Parfum, IF you can find it. It continues to sell out as soon as it hits the shelves.

Dior has also come out with a new take on roses, Miss Dior Roses N’ Roses.

And, be a beauty geek like me and watch their very well-timed Apple documentary “Noses”, the story of Dior’s master Nose and perfumier Francois Demachy

It is inspiration abounding.

Happy first step to your Fall and Winter season.

Enjoy!
